Lately I have been more interested in working on my photos on flickr than in blogging. I started this new blog with the intention of putting more effort into it and using it as a means of communicating. The online photo album was at first a secondary project in my opinion. However, now the photos command my attention rather than this blog.
I started working on a photo self portrait project through one of the flickr groups called 365 days. You take a photo of yourself every day for one year. I was intrigued by this because I usually take many self portraits as it is and wanted to watch the progression of days unfold, as I have no idea at the beginning of this what will transpire and how I will use photography to document it.

City Wide Open Studios is a month-long event that takes place each October in New Haven. There are several weekends where artists' studios are open to the public during this month. There is a main exhibit at Artspace in New Haven where each participating artist gets to display one piece of work.
The opening night for the show was Friday night. I attended the event with my mom and my friend Caleb. It was pretty packed, though it seemed crazier when I did the event two years ago. That may have also been due to the fact that I worked at Artspace during that time. I got to see the art in advance, so I went more to mingle and pretty much to be seen. I've also been doing some volunteering for the event which has been interesting, especially in relation to my experience working there in the past. I am glad to be participating again this year because it is a fun and very publicized event.

My long time friend Dani got married on October 7, 2007. She and her new husband Matt got married at a Greek church in Orange, CT. The wedding reception was nearby in Milford, CT. I attended the wedding with my ex-boyfriend Ryan who was in town for his brother's wedding, which was the day before.
The ceremony was interesting and unlike anything that I have ever seen before. The Greek service was very traditional and based on ritual. It was strange at parts, and I actually had a hard time containing my laughter some of the time because it was unusual to me. However, Dani was a beautiful bride. Her gown and hairstyle were especially exsquisite. Her dance with her father was also very special because they are extremely close. I felt emotional watching them, and I am usually not the type who ever cries on such occasions.

After finishing my fellowship position at Eagle Rock School, I decided to travel to Ireland for five weeks. For the first four weeks of my visit I volunteered on a farm called Mill Little, which is near the sea in southwestern Ireland, close to the town of Bantry. I mostly worked in the garden and did other tasks like yard work, cleaning and painting. I was able to see some nice beaches and small towns in the area since I was there for a while. We also visited Kilarney National Park which had beautiful scenery. During this time, I also went sea kayaking and sailing on several occasions. It was a good balance of working and enjoying myself. The last week that I was in Ireland I traveled alone on the west coast. I stayed in different towns and villages along the way and did some sightseeing as I traveled by bus and stayed in hostels. Of course, I took tons of photos to document my travels and all the interesting things that I encountered along the way. It was an amazing journey, one that I won't soon forget.Visit my online album for more Ireland photos
